Why Insects?
Roughly 1/3 of food produced for human consumption ends up in landfills releasing carbon and methane that account for close to 10% of global emissions. The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) convert this food waste into proteins and fats. The oil extracted from the Black Soldier Fly has a fatty acid profile that is perfect for skincare applications.
Rich in Omega 3s, 6s, and 9s, the oil has other fatty acids essential for healthy skin:
Alpha-Linolenic Acid: anti-aging due to its strong antioxidant benefits that protect from sun damage and stress caused by pollution and other environmental factors
Oleic Acid: reduces fine lines and wrinkles while restoring your skins natural oils without clogging your pores
Lauric Acid: anti-microbial/bacterial properties to soothe inflamed skin and inhibit acne causing bacteria
Capric Acid: smooth skin and acts as an antioxidant
Myristic Acid: maintains a hydrated and youthful look to your skin
Palmitic Acid: soften your skin and retains moisture
Palmitoleic Acid: nourishes from within to moisturize and rejuvenate your skin
Stearic Acid: excellent for softening skin
Linoleic Acid: strengthens your skin barrier to keep water in and irritants out
